Writing an Awesome Sales Letter

Many sales professionals utilize sales letter as one component of their gorilla marketing campaigns. A gorilla marketing campaign is where you hit the prospective buyer from multiple angles that may include a telephone call, a visit, a letter, an email or a combination of any of these methods. A letter in and of itself is unlikely to achieve the desired results and should be used in connection with the above mentioned avenues.

When writing a letter it is important that you write it from the perspective of the buyer. In order for you to do this you must know who the buyer is, what are their problems (i.e. sales, management, cost, heating), and how you can help them. Since most potential buyers only read a letter for a few seconds it is important to draw their attention as soon as possible.

Some components of a good letter include picking a good title that appeal to the reader. Write about what the product/service will do for the reader and how it can solve the reader?s problems. Build trust in the letter through personalization by using the buyers name, your credibility, and success stories. You may also build credibility by adding a statistic of either the industry or your success rate. Finally include a call to action and a special offer.

Take for example the following short letter:

ATTN: Website Owners Get More Traffic!

Dear (Insert Name Here),

Increasing website traffic and sales can be difficult for many small business owners. At the New Marketing World Blog we understand that much of your time is focused on advertising where it would be more profitable to focus this time on your core business functions. Whether you sell t-shirts, cars, or offer your services you are likely to increase your traffic by up to 10% with only a few minutes of your time.
