In today’s world, getting a job without a degree is nearly impossible. Employers are trying to make sure the people they hire into their companies aren’t just knowledgeable in the fields where they work, but that their employees have also received the other benefits of a college education. They want to be sure their employees can read, write, and complete other basic tasks on a college level. But not every degree you earn from a university will result in employment, and certainly not as soon as you graduate. Fortunately, that isn’t true for all degrees. An accounting degree is one of the most needed degrees in today’s society. Accounting majors can go on to work in a number of different fields. The two most common jobs they usually work in are business accountants and personal accountants. Business accountants work with businesses to keep track of their money. Larger companies are usually too busy to manage their own finances, so they hire an accountant to this for them. Personal accountants do the same thing for individuals. In addition to managing basic finances, personal accountants also take care of stocks and investments as well. Another degree which will get you a job quite easily is a business administration degree. As a graduate with this type of degree, you can essentially choose what company you want to work with after you graduate. Most people take positions as analysts or managers. Budget and financial analysts, accountants, bookkeepers, and appraisers, construction and sales managers, and financial, operations, and human resources management are all different jobs a person could get with a business administration degree. These jobs require the following skills: teamwork, leadership, communication, time management, and attention to detail among many others. In a world dominated by computers, a computer engineering degree is sure to land you a job soon after graduation. Most mid- to large-sized companies need at least one computer engineer on staff to maintain their websites and computer systems. If the company is computer-based and has a large network or more than one network, it may need more than one engineer. And as long as computers and the internet remain, there will always be a need for computer engineers. Another degree that is certain to get you a job quite easily is an education degree, with which you can do a number things. A teaching degree allows you to be a teacher, of any K-12 grade, special needs, teaching at daycares, and various other teaching positions. With furthered education, a teaching degree will allow for someone to become a professor at a university. An added perk of an education degree is in some states, if a person stays a teacher for a certain number of years, the student loans are forgiven. There are a number of degrees you can earn which will get you a job soon after graduation. It is important to do research before deciding on your major.
