Web Marketing

Web marketing is marketing that is done on the Internet. It involves a product, price, packaging, promotion and place just like the traditional marketing. This type of marketing comprises the generation of sales leads, the selling of products or services and supporting other businesses through affiliate marketing.

To beat online competition, a business will need to:
Have a business strategy-This strategy should include ideas from businesses that are doing well in online marketing. Factors that should be considered should include customer base, the advertising and campaign themes where you will need to know the topics and trends, find out if you have channels of distribution like blogs. Be in a position to give discounts and competitive prices.
Compare your website- Since your website will be the backbone of your digital presence, it is important that the website contains landing pages, detailed pricing information and a page that talks about the business (an about us page). Ensure the website is easy to use, with social media follow buttons included. The website should have the ability to load quickly in all browsers and on devices that are mobile-enabled.
Social Media- For web marketing to succeed, a company must have the ability to monitor and engage in conversations on social media platforms as these can determine their success among a new type of customer. Use platforms like Facebook and Twitter, and ensure to post on your social profile frequently. Monitor the queries on customer service complaints, questions and compliments and respond swiftly.
Content Marketing- In web marketing, content marketing is a very important technique to keep people coming to the site. Make sure your content has a mix of webinars, eBooks and whitepapers. Have a blogging schedule to make sure there is new content regularly, content which is well edited, researched and one that is relevant.
Email Marketing-Email gives a high form of return on investment; therefore make sure you send emails when it is necessary. The emails should include promotional offers and can also be used to self-promote the business. Make sure the emails are not caught by the customers spam filter.
Search Engine Optimisation-SEO has an abundance of tools available to quantitatively examine how your website rates against the rest. Check for keyword ranking to make sure you are using keywords that rank well, confirm your site traffic, and check also the PageRank of the website.
Make buyers trust you-Buyers these days turn to their friends and social network communities to help them decide who to buy from. Build trust from buyers due to the service provided.
Develop a prospect list- This can be done by looking up companies in directories such as the Yellow Pages and those published by the Chamber of Commerce. On the web, the directories can be explored. The people on the list can then be written to.
Use Internet Marketing Tools-The Internet has a lot of tools that can help you have an advantage over your competitors. The tools used can be website visitor tools that show what companies visit your website and the pages viewed. Remarketing tools which help you follow the website visitors.

In conclusion, to create a successful web marketing business the following factors should be taken into consideration:

  • Have a plan for the business
  • Identify your target market
  • Detail the services which you are able to offer
  • Identify the primary objective of the business
  • Determine the intended results
  • Describe the special offer for the buyers
  • Detail the calls to action with regard to the buyers
