Just like in every-day life, fear in internet marketing, is one of the strongest and most responsive influential emotion that you may have. Will it act to protect you or even to destroy you? Well that depends on several situations that I will cover later but for now, let us say that fear can become a hindrance in your life preventing you to concentrate better even when perhaps there is not a true threat for you then. There are quite a number of different fears that not only you have as an internet marketer, we all have them. There is something that sometimes triggers fight or flight reaction in us humans when we feel threatened. And, regrettably the same reaction can, at the same time, be triggered without existing a true threat for us. Sometimes even minor changes in our daily routine can look like great obstacles that we have to confront in order to produce better life conditions or more advantageous habits that help us to reach our goals. Yet fear of changing prevents us from getting forward too often. For many people, the idea of starting their own business, worry them so much that the risks get exaggerated due to the fear of actually taking those risks. Unless you are prepared to conquer fear or at least to take actions to overcome the fears that prevent you from moving forward in your online business, you will remain static or risk failure because of inaction. Imagine you wanting to be an entertainer and not being prepared to overcome the fear of public speaking, or may be the idea of writing that book that is inside you but the fear of writing stops you from getting anything on paper; you know that unless you take small steps geared to overcome what is restricting you inside your mind, you are not going to move forward towards your goals. In Internet Marketing, once you take action on removing from your mind all the restrictions and burdens of uncertainty, all the single fears related to different small and big things, you start to notice small improvements towards your aims which have to be mostly about people, interactions with them towards helping them to solve their problems. Within those interactions, there are a number of actions that you must become comfortable with once the fears in your mind are completely removed. Things such as actively seeking to talk to your prospects on a regular basis or writing reports, surveys, emails, being active on the social networks, in forums, and specially promoting your products or other people’s programs and products. Being afraid of success online can be another fear. But, if you are getting in the habit of facing fears to remove them from your mind, you are also creating a muscle that is getting stronger and that will make you understand that success’ responsibilities and duties are a joy to perform and really nothing to worry about. Little by little, facing any fear will become a chore that you will relish and that will allow you to become stronger in character, socially and financially. You are not going to be successful as an internet marketer hiding behind a pc terminal all day long. Marketing is about people and services, is about providing people with what they want; it is that simple. So, try to face every fear that might prevent you from contacting people. You can start with facing or approaching those that you think are the most difficult to deal with. Call them; just write to them offering value until they talk to you. This is the start towards something that one day you may realize how easy it was to accomplish and how beneficial it is for your business. Of course there is also the all important ever-present ‘fear of failure’ which in internet marketing is very prevalent. But again, you can go back to the failures of so many great characters in life: Thomas Edison, Abraham Lincoln, Colonel Sanders, Henry Ford… and innumerable marketers online who failed time and time again by their own admission. Reading about all of them, will inspire you to start thinking positively about this particular fear. Failing therefore is not the issue, since every time you fail, is another lesson towards not doing again what you just have done, and another step nearer to success. You will overcome this fear by taking action and being persistent. You may also use positive affirmations to overcome fear. Some people swear by them and get good results with this technique. Affirmations that are positive, I should stress, since trying to talk to your subconscious mind in negative terms is not going to work. In internet marketing, just by keeping daily positive affirmations about how you want to proceed has to be beneficial for you because these keep you focus on what you need to do. You are more likely to do the things that you wanted to do, with constant reminders of your purpose in marketing. Most frequently, your fears are deeply connected to your limiting beliefs so that you will see life experiences in a distorted, unrealistic way, acting as a filter that assigns meaning to everything that happens even when no such meaning truly existed anyway. Best way to resolve this is to choose to reframe your limiting beliefs into something really favourable for you. Limiting beliefs as negative framed into positive statements that help you in a positive way. Remember that if fear is a natural reaction of your mind to something that you consider a threatening situation, you can, therefore, choose to believe that there is nothing to fear and so, you have nothing to respond to. It is a way of reframing any type of fear. When you have no fears, you are free to devote all your time to positive outcomes.
