The Indian School of Business (ISB) ISB YLP aims to groom young talent among undergraduates as Young Leaders. Hence the name Young Leaders’ Programme (YLP). Selection Process The selection to YLP involves •Profile evaluation •Analytical skills •GMAT Score •Written essays •Video presentation •Personal interviews Admission Process The procedure for admission lasting 7 months starts with submission of all academic details till date along with achievements in extracurricular activities and interests. The candidates are also required to frame a 90 second ISB YLP Stage 1 video on a given topic to justify their visual presentation skills. After these are fulfilled, two obligations in the form of a single page Resume and application fee of Rs. 1, 000 must be submitted along with the application. Essays The ISB YLP essays are an important component of the YLP application. The essays are seeking to be the vehicle to derive factual information that can convey a message about who you are. The Essays seek •Description of past experience that shaped the candidate as of today. (300 words) •Valid but critical information that can significantly boost the chances of considering a candidate to the ISB. (300 words) •An expression of the career aspiration of the candidate immediately after graduating from the ISB? (300 words) The ISB YLP Program is conceived as a foundation programme for outstanding undergraduates from various disciplines to get a great head-start in their careers YLP gives an opportunity to seek pre-admission to the ISB's one year post-graduate programme in management (PGP). In the last two years about 132 candidates have been selected for the YLP programme. Admissions for 2013 are open and can be applied by logging onto the website. The eligibility for admission into YLP is that a candidate must be in his/ her pre-final year of graduation in whatever discipline. Importance of Video Amidst other general requirements the stand out must come in the video preparation. The video must be a self-introduction to to convince the admission board about a candidate’s confidence and clarity of thoughts. Benefits The key benefits of YLP program are the opportunity to gain one year and nine months of work experience before joining the ISB’s Post Graduate Programme. This is something exceptional to the candidates who are selected into the YLP programme. In the pre-PGP phase, students will be mentored by ISB faculty and senior management through a structured learning process. This equips the students to develop individual leadership skills and explore diverse career options. Not only that ISB also offers a great platform for networking and building relationships with like-minded peers and ISB alumni. Big Exposure The opportunities to interact with ISB stakeholders, take part in seminars and workshops are tremendous. They also get to interact with international students, leaders from business and academic spheres from all over the world. There will be a scholarship of Rs. 1 lakh at the time of joining the Post Graduate Programme. This will be in addition to the regular merit, corporate scholarships that all PGP students are eligible for.
