Title: Infographics - a More intuitive Way of Presenting Market Research Data Before we had the radio, people loved books. Then the television came which made slices in what people wanted – books, radio or television. When it came to education, research and work, most people still preferred books, paper works. Everything back then had a word. Then the computer was born. Who knew that every home today would have a laptop? The software of which extended into our phones. Now, it’s a necessity. Everybody has a phone or a laptop. It would be strange not to have one. It’s like you live in another world if you don’t. The era of technology was born and now it only seems to grow better. Marketing research used to be done face to face or in the zone. Doing an interview required both the respondent and the researcher in one place together. Having focus groups meant going to a certain place at similar or different times a week. Sometimes, living together for a period of time was a must. Research would take weeks, months – even years to finish with all the questions and data needed to be gathered and interpreted. Now, with technology, everything that needed too much time was cut in half, or more. Putting technology to good use has lead to the creation of text analytics - gathering mammoth amounts of information around the world from the internet in a short amount of time. Trends can be predicted, new information can be found, many research queries could be answered quickly. Then the creation of Infographics. Combining relevant information with graphics. Many people mistake this as only a new kind of advertisement method – well on one hand it is. But its use goes beyond that. It is a new way of presenting market research data in a way that makes understanding truckloads and truckloads of information in a much easier way. It presents a summary containing only the most relevant information needed in the research – removing unnecessary data and combines it with the most recent statistics then shows the interpretation of the researcher. It may also be used to present new processes as a result of the studies. Looking at an infographic design is like looking at a poster. It only takes a minute and in that minute you’ve learned so much. Our techy era no longer sits and reads a whole book of information as there is so much to do but they do like information. Infographics takes away the boredom, saves time and it simplifies what is too complicated to say in words into images, graphs, color and maybe some words. Best of all, it can spread more than a bucket of information in a short amount of time.
