Back in 1999 they warned that if obesity continued to be a fast growing problem it was predicted that it would reach epidemic levels by the year 2020. So I am not aware of what happened!! Not only is this happening in the USA but the obesity statistics in the western world is also going up. So I can’t figure out what happened!!

One way to prevent this problem is to make people aware of the ill-effects of being overweight or obese. Which is, undoubtedly, not going to be pleasant.

There are certain diseases that you are putting yourself in susceptibility of if you are containing a lot of extra pounds:

1. heart disease 2. stroke 3. diabetes 4. cancer 5. arthritis 6. hypertension

Losing flab helps to keep away from and control these diseases.

It is wise to follow a healthy weight loss option which will provide lifetime results. You must set realistic goals and not dream to lose a huge amount of pounds in a short span of time.

Given below are some tips on how you can lose that unwanted body mass the healthy way:

1. Refrain from starving your self.

The important thing to a better way of losing weight is: Do not "diet".

You may seem happy and feel that you are putting off that protrusive flab on your belly and thighs by keeping away from meals. But remember that this would not be a permanent solution. Your physical frame cannot tolerate having insufficient supply of food to generate the energy that you use up normally.

2. Start your day properly

Mothers always insist that breakfast is the most vital meal of the day. Have a energy boosting meal in the breakfast time to jump-start your metabolism.

3. Eat small, healthy snacks frequently.

Five small-serving snacks per day is better than three spectacular meals. Taking in more frequently, and in small servings, can curb over-eating. This will also enhance your metabolism and enables calories burn faster.

4. Decide on how much weight you want to shed.

Keep your dreams realistic. In the long run, it is virtually nothing but a dream for you to lose 40 pounds in a short span of time. Have a thought that you ought to eat healthy to stay healthy for the remainder of your life.

5. Have lots of water.

Your body asks for enough water to burn calories and keep your cells fit and healthy.

6. Avoid high quantity of sugar.

Plan your meals including lots of fruits and vegetables, some bread, rice or pasta for that carbohydrate quantity that you need, along with lean meat and protein rich-foods. Sweets, aerated drinks and pastries should be occasional indulgences only.

7. Control your fat intake.

Fat is not the culprit that leads to overweight. You need this to sustain your weight at the perfect level.

Rest assured there is such a thing as healthy fats. Olive, peanuts and canola oil have abundance of them. Tuna, salmon and mackerel have omega-3 fats which is very essential for the heart.

8. Be regular at Exercise.

Leave your motor vehicle if you are only going a small distance from home, climb up the stairs instead of the elevator, jog, cycle or skate. Do these activities and other domestic chores if you are completely too lazy to go to the gym and take exercise classes.

Make sure that you do this on a regular basis and you will not even realize that you are already putting off pounds with these simple activities.

It does not matter how much weight you are going to shed. What is vital is that you have realistic goals for yourself.

Eat well, drink lots of water, have enough sleep and exercise. This will supply you a higher opportunity of losing weight and stabilizing your health, which would create a new, healthier you.

Knowledge holds the key and we all need to be enlightened to the hazards we face if we continue down the slippery slope to obesity.
