Many Catholic schools in California proudly proclaim that they provide a faith-based education. But what does that mean and how do Catholic schools really differ from public schools and secular-based private schools? You may be surprised to learn just how central faith and spiritual growth are to the daily activities of these schools. First, Catholic schools offer religious classes. In most California catholic schools, students in all grade levels will study religion every day. Topics include everything from Bible stories and the sacraments in the lower grades to morality and social justice in high school.
