A soft, smooth, green grassy lawn looks very nice, but to keep its good look intact, one has to make serious effort. Maintaining a grass lawn is quite a challenging job and needs a lot of expertise. The biggest challenge in maintenance of a lawn is keeping all corners of its area of the same level. Grasses on all parts of the lawn should be of same size so that while walking over it, one get the feeling of strolling over a smooth carpet. Well the secret behind leveling of a lawn lies with mowing. Better mowed a lawn is better is its look and smoothness. Mowing grass for a lawn needs special skills and superior quality machineries that can cut the grass without making any damage to its health. If you have the desire of having a green grassy lawn around your home you need to know the basics of grass mowing to make sure your lawn looks cool to yourself and others. Following are some of the most important points that you should keep in mind while mowing the grasses of your lawn: Always use a rotary mower because it whacks the grass blade off. The blades of rotary mower should be kept very sharp because sharper blades produce cleaner cuts and cleaner cuts are better for the health of grasses. If you sharpen the blades by yourself, be careful about maintaining the balance. The sharpness of all the blades should be of same level. Try to mow the grasses of you lawn in the evening. Though the grasses remain fresh in the morning, dew on leafs interferes in the smooth movement of the blades on the grasses. ‘Longer the grass, deeper is its root’. Remember this word while mowing your lawn. You should cut the turfgrasses of your lawn up to the maximum level possible. 2-3 inches is the ideal height for home lawns. Grasses growing in the shade need longer cut as they need more leaf area to intercept sunlight. Make sure you don’t remove more than 1/3rd of the actual height of the grasses of your lawn at a time. Try tom mow your lawn under the right conditions to make sure that clumpses of grasses are not left on the surface. Clean the mower deck after mowing is over so that the blades do not catch rust. Rotary mowers are available in various designs and sizes in the market and their use depend on the type and size of the lawn. So be particular about the ctriteria that you need your lawn mowing machine to fulfill. For small residential lawns andn gardens, the smallest machine pushed by humans is the most suitable.
