So how does one get inspired to do things you don't want to and how does it fit in with back pain? First of all lets look at the word inspired, in-spire, in spirit - to fill with vigour. Let's take an example of a hobby whatever it is golf, fishing etc. Well your spirit is coming through wanting to express itself. Your in spirit, you're inspired and you feel good and endorphins are released into your body. We know that when we laugh and are happy endorphins have been released into the body, giving us a 'high' state. So we need to get into this state of being 'happy' to motivate us and help us on our journey with back pain. Let's face it, if something sounds like work what happens? We tend to avoid doing something we don't want to do, so we need to turn that around. It's the pain and pleasure thing, how much pain will we sustain before we change our ways? When we have back pain, depending of course how severe it is, and we want to do something for ourselves it's going to take some form of motivation to address the back pain. And usually we take on so much pain before we do anything about it; the pleasure part is that we have lost the back pain. So perhaps find a way that will support us to do what we know what we ought to be doing. Do you know your peak hours? When are we at out best? Are you an owl or a lark? So perhaps our work hours can be more productive than others and using this time to do tasks when we are at our best. This is when we are 'more inspired' and to keep positive and avoid any thoughts of being negative. Having a system to fall back on when negative thoughts start to take over is a good idea to stay on a 'high'. Perhaps saying a mantra to yourself to lift your spirits, play some music that will also lift you, if you can stimulate ALL of the senses then you will have the advantage. Our mood will also affect back pain, if we feel crap then we are reluctant to do anything and procrastination starts and we are off track. So we need to work on keeping a 'high'.
