With all that today's high-tech gadgetry has to offer, it seems that we, as a modern people, have lost our touch with creativity and imagination. Back when most of us were kids, we had games that caused us to think, that helped us to interact with other people, and to learn valuable life skills while building relationships with our peers. Sorry Sorry has been around for quite awhile -- this classic board game works out quite well for younger children, even as young as five years old. While not mentally as intense as Scrabble, Sorry is a surefire fun pastime for your children, or even yourself, while you're playing with your children. Chutes and Ladders Chutes and Ladders is a game that will teach your children valuable life lessons, at least in a small way. This classic board game caters to it the younger group quite well, allowing mature three-year-olds and older to take part in a fun, and somewhat educational, pastime. Twister Twister, while not exactly a board game per se, fits nicely into the group of classic toys and games, and can be a real riot for school age children, likely those who are in the first grade or a little bit older. Not only does Twister bring excitement into the day, it really helps kids, and the kids at heart, to interact with others in a fun environment. Monopoly No list of classic toys and games would be complete without a mention of Monopoly. We all grew up playing Monopoly, and in a way, it really teaches us a valuable life lessons. At least in our home, playing Monopoly always sparked controversy. Whether or not Monopoly teaches you shrewd business lessons at an early age are not, it's a good start to learn conflict resolution with your siblings. Today's games can't hold a candle to the benefits offered up by the classic toys and games of recent history.
