When you visit this lovely Spanish island, you’ll find that Mallorcans are extremely proud of their traditional baked goods – and rightly so. Mallorca airport transfers can take you straight to your accommodation in the capital, Palma, where you’re never far from a bakery. There are so many delicious baked goods to choose from. Maybe you’re after some artisan bread or perhaps your sweet tooth is craving a tasty, sugary cake. There are plenty of pastries and traditional delicacies to sate your appetite too. Many of these bakeries are family-owned businesses – and if you take your own kids along, you can fill hungry tummies with delicious sweet and savoury treats. There are a lot of bakeries in Mallorca, so it helps to know which ones are the gems out there that are well worth a visit. D'Horno Right in the heart of old town, you’ll find a delightful little bakery specialising in artisan breads. There are traditional loaves of classic baguettes and seeded-bloomers along with more experimental loaves, integrating some more out-there ingredients like red peppers, fruit and nuts and goats cheese. These are equally delicious and worth trying for yourself. There’s even a curry loaf for the especially adventurous. You’ll also find a smaller selection of pastries and sandwiches if a hearty loaf doesn’t quite float your boat. Rosevelvet Bakery For a lovely lunch in a pretty setting, Rosevelvet Bakery isn’t the worst place to stop by. Set in a scenic courtyard, the café serves all manner of tasty treats. The cakes are especially good and this is a great place to enjoy a sweet with a cup of coffee. Bits of Glory Bakehouse Whilst there is a more limited selection at Bits of Glory than you might find in some other bakeries, what is there is truly delicious. Your eye will be drawn to the impressive display of towering cakes and attractive pastries. The Focaccia bread is also excellent if you’re looking for something savoury. Cakes are baked to order and a signature pastry – the cruffin – is to die for. This is a muffin shaped croissant that comes in a few variations. We’re sure you’ll want to try them all! Perhaps the most popular is a custard filled cruffin topped with honeycomb, which is absolutely scrumptious. Horno Santo Cristo Treat the kids (and yourself) to an island specialty – the much loved ensaïmada. These are icing sugar dusted swirls eaten traditionally for breakfast, although really there are no rules when it comes to enjoying pastries! Go wild and order some for tea time! Horno Santo Cristo is a small chain that has been around since 1910, and they specialise in ensaïmada so you know you’re getting the best.
