The typical way in which to do tree removal involves using a chainsaw but there are many other different variations to remove a tree.
Tall tree removal
With tall trees, it will usually require a professional tree service to do the removal because to reach the top of the tree you would need a bucket truck. This vehicle has a hydraulic platform that will lift a worker in bucket to access the top of the tree. By using this type of vehicle, it will help to keep the worker and the tools they are using safe and secure while working. When the worker is lifted up to the tree, it enables them to work alongside the tree and remove it in sections instead of cutting it at the base of the tree and letting it fall to the ground. By using this method, it eliminates the possibility of the tree falling into a fence, building, roadway, or on a person on the ground.
Sometimes when the crew arrives at the location of the tree removal, they may find that it is so large that it is towering over a roadway or building. This causes a problem because the limbs of the tree cannot be dropped to the ground after being cut off the tree without creating a hazard or damaging property. In this type of circumstance, they will have to lower the limbs that have been cut to the ground using a rope. The first thing that the professional does is to tie a rope around the limb and then cut it off. The limb is then guided to the ground without contacting any structures or causing traffic problems. Depending on the size of the limb, it may take more than one attached rope.
Although in times past, trees were cut at the base and let fall into an area where there were no obstacles. Today when doing tree removal or stump grinding there are normally obstacles in the way so the majority of trees are removed from the top down. If it is a small-limbed tree once the limbs have been removed it will be tipped over or cut down. For the larger trees once they remove the limbs the trunk of the tree will be cut off in pieces and lowered to the ground. When the limbs are removed, the professional will trim off any small branches first. Generally, a professional tree removal company will have a chipper on the job so they can cut the smaller branches into wood chips for mulch. The larger pieces will be loaded onto a truck. The final section of the trunk is cut off close to the ground. The homeowner can remove the stump later if they choose.
