It is estimated that about 22 million Americans are struggling with alcohol and substance abuse. Yet statistics show that only one in 10 Americans actually get treatment. The reason for this is simple; most drug addiction victims are either unable to afford substance use disorder treatment or there is a limited number of beds in the treatment facility.
What is the underlying course of drug abuse?
The findings of a new research published in the journal Development and Psychopathology show that living in a wealthy neighborhood, attending a prestigious school, and having sustainable income can all possibly increase the likelihood of a teenager developing a substance abuse problem later in life.
This kind of setup can easily trigger some type of pressure to shine and be a high achiever. Money also plays a big role in substance abuse. Teenagers who have greater access to disposable income can easily access expensive drugs like heroin. Today’s generation of “cool parents” are reluctant in the supervision of their kids thus leaving them vulnerable to experimenting with different drug and alcohol.
A gated community is a lucrative neighborhood where one would expect their kids to be safe from exposure to drugs. In reality, it is difficult to know the numbers of drug addiction victims in these communities because most families call for inpatient residential treatment in the event that a member of the family needs help.
How do drugs get into homes in gated communities?
The internet age has made it possible for people to do business virtually. One of the businesses that has greatly benefited from the availability of the internet is drug peddling. Your teenage son or daughter can easily buy heroin and other drugs from an online supplier and use it right before your eyes. Sometimes you may not be keen enough to notice that your teen is sinking in drug abuse unless they confess of it and request for substance use disorder treatment.
How much does inpatient residential drug abuse treatment cost?
You can seek help for drug addiction for you, a friend or a family member from different places. The common one is to go for either an inpatient or outpatient drug rehab treatment at a private treatment facility or clinic. The second is to go for fee drug-rehab treatment at a public rehab facility. The third option which is mostly taken by people who have in-network insurance is the inpatient residential treatment.
Inpatient residential treatment can be more expensive compared to the other treatment options. It will, however, give you or your loved one the anonymity that they need. Sometimes it is easier to get help and recover from drug addiction where there are no many eyes looking at you and checking your progress.
