Hoover Dam Located just 30 minutes south of the Vegas Strip is the Hoover Dam, dedicated by Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1935. Today, it is the second tallest dam in the U.S. Tours are available. You'll be amazed by the panoramic view of the Colorado River and Lake Mead atop an observational deck located above the dam.
