Standby Generators: During a power outage, a standby generac generator has the capacity to provide 100% of your home’s power needs. They have been designed for permanent installation by an electrical contractor. They are fitted with a transfer switch that automatically controls the generator by switching it on as soon as power fails and off as soon as the power gets restored. This is such an important feature because it protects your home even when you are away by turning on and off automatically.
Standby backup generators are normally fuelled by natural gas or propane and they don’t require any hands-on attention when there is an outage because they are directly connected to their fuel supply. They also provide a steady stream of electricity that is known to be safer for the most sensitive electronic equipment such as computers and TVs. Their normal range is normally between 8000 and 125,000 watts; the smaller ones can power the most basic appliances while the larger ones will handle everything else including stoves, refrigerators, security systems, sump pumps and much more.
