Wrought iron began life centuries ago and has many a mention among different writings about Western history, although the exact date is not known when wrought iron was first used; however what is known that wrought iron reached a peak around 1860 when battleships and railways were being created and made. Wrought iron is made out of iron alloy, this not to be confused with cast iron which contains a higher level of carbon than iron alloy. When wrought iron is mentioned in today's society you will find it is a term referred to with regards to the ornamental factor of iron in the making of building accessories such as iron doors, iron gates, iron railings, garage doors and more. There are so many different types of intricate if intimidating designs all unique to the individual homeowner or shop owner. The designs tend to be hand worked which makes the designs even more fantastic and creating a wow factor, however you won't be surprised to discover that the work that goes into these beautiful doors makes them a lot more expensive than doors made of wood or UPVC. Front entry doors are the favorite for the use of iron doors although they can be used internally or externally, it's a case of personal preference. They can make a huge statement and boost the price of your home when selling up. Once you have your iron door fitted and in use, you may find that your neighbors stare in awe at your door or even become a little envious inspiring them to have their own iron door fitted. Weather resistant Iron doors have spent time being tested and tested and tested again against all weather conditions and won hands down. Iron doors are known for their strength, durability, anti - rust properties due to a multi step protection process, their ornate patterns and elegant designs. Iron doors or even rod iron gate are a preferred statement front door as they won't warp and become mishaped in the wet, snowy or stormy weather, they will withstand any storm, they are burglary and intruder proof too. Wooden and UPVC doors can be broken and damaged in a criminal event, wrought iron doors are impenetrable and built to last the test of time. Due to the fact that iron doors are not only used for residential buildings but commercial and industrial buildings too it is of up most importance that they offer a high level of security as well as being aesthetically pleasing to the eye. When you visit a showroom to discuss your iron doors preferences you will be treated as a unique customer and have your door uniquely designed for you in almost any color or faux finish you desire, however most iron doors tend to be black. Not all iron doors which feature glass panels come with the glass. Sometimes you may have to buy the glass separately adding to the cost, do make sure you check up on this when ordering your iron doors. Your door can range from anything from 1-2 inches thick, swing inward or outward and weigh up to 1000lbs. Your door will usually be delivered pre-hung and come with mounts. The only thing it won't come with is a contractor to hang it but that us easy to solve. Although your iron door now looks posh and looks spectacular it does not mean that it will be high maintenance to keep that pristine look. In fact iron doors are very low maintenance and easy to look after. However, never clean your door with a cleaning rag with a rough or abrasive surface, always use a soft, gentle rag. Oil soap is a fantastic product to use on your door as is window cleaner. Window cleaner will rid your door of little persons finger marks, smears and smudges and polishing after with a duster after will bring up the shine.
