Organising events is both rewarding and stressful in equal measure. It’s something which many people have to do as part of their job, while for others, their first taste of event organisation could be to plan their own wedding. This is arguably one of the most stressful cases of event planning available, so for someone who is only just trying their hand at it, it can rapidly become incredibly overwhelming. Finding the perfect location for any event is important. This will need to be somewhere which is accessibly, somewhere which is available when you need it to be, and somewhere which has enough space for all the guests you want to attend. It’s very difficult to find the perfect venue, especially when there’s a lot riding on your decision. So, if you’re not interested in renting a pub or a restaurant, hiring out a castle or a country house, what are your options? Could you just stick a mobile bar in your own garden and host the shindig there? Well actually, there’s nothing to say you couldn’t (except perhaps space restrictions and the neighbours). The simple event you’ve been trying to organise might not be so difficult to achieve after all. More and more often events are being held outside of the traditional venues, quite literally. The availability of mobile bars, as well as a range of other facilities, make hiring a marquee and hosting an event as close to the great outdoors as the British weather will allow is becoming incredibly popular. Not only is this likely to significantly reduce costs (the venue is often one of the single biggest expenses when it comes to event planning, and it has to be paid for well in advance usually), it can also give a completely different feel to your entire event. Some fields are dedicated to this purpose, and so have some equipment available to you. Toilet facilities are an absolute must, with a mobile bar coming in a close second for many events as well. Make sure there’s a way of providing refreshments throughout the day and into the evening. If there isn’t a kitchen on site, you might need to set up a temporary catering facility. Balance out the costs of the mobile bar, the catering and the marquee itself, and it could well be more cost effective than many traditional venues. Just remember that this could well require considerably more work. Joseph works for Hire-IT event furniture hire.
