The Ping G25 hybrid reverts to a more wood style head and looks spookily similar to the Ping Anser hybrid, which is not a bad thing.
The new look G-range hybrid has a progressive CG (centre of gravity) position throughout the 6-loft options. The CG is lower and farther back in the stronger lofted models and slightly forward in the higher lofts. The G25 hybrid Ping features a generous face that is a little more square in shape to widen the hitting area in the heel and toe. Right across the face, the G25 is very forgiving and feels excellent.
The forgiveness is such that it is quite hard to shape the ball left and right. The G25 just loves to go straight and the flight was a little lower than the Ping G20 hybrid with a much stronger, more penetrating trajectory. The head of the G25 is fractionally longer and deeper back to front than the Anser hybrid and the sole weight is blended in a little more.
The large hitting surface on the G25 hybrid combines with a thin clubface, producing higher ball speeds and creating forgiveness across the face. A squared-up toe and heel improves the look of the G25 at address, and added to the new dark finish creates a look that is easy to align and improves confidence.
Along with the upgrading weighting, the G25 hybrid has a generous camber heel-to-toe relief that adds to the playability and ensures solid contact from a variety of lies. Related items:
