There are some beautiful hospitals and healthcare facilities around the country. You may want to work in a private practice that overlooks the beach in Miami, Florida or even in a hospital that overlooks the mountains in North Carolina. Regardless of where you want to work, there are physician positions available to you. If you don't live in the area that you want to work in, it's important to know how to find positions. If you do a search on a variety of the career websites, you won't see many medical positions. This is because healthcare facilities aren't posting their own ads any more. They have learned that it's easier to hire a recruiter than to try and do the hiring on their own. This means that it's more advantageous for you to work with a recruiter as well. When you work with a recruiter that specializes in the healthcare industry, you can use their network connections to help you locate physician positions anywhere in the country. They may not be able to find you something in the area you want to work, but they are likely going to know someone who can - and this is very important. You will want to be able to find out what's available to you. Much of this has to do with your experience. Some of it will also have to do with what healthcare facilities are hiring and what kinds of specialties they are looking for. You may be able to work at a hospital, a private practice, a 24-hour clinic, and many other locations. By working with a recruiter, you can learn about the different physician positions and choose a new and exciting place to call home. If you enjoy moving around a lot, you may also want to look into a locum tenens position. This is where you will work smaller contracts with healthcare facilities to cover a physician while he or she is out on leave - either for medical reasons, vacation, or some other reason. The contract may be anywhere between 1 month and 1 year. The locum tenens positions will allow you to explore an array of positions all around the country. This is a great way to check out various healthcare facilities and find out where you are the most comfortable. You may even end up with a permanent job offer because of how much the facility enjoys having you on staff. Traveling around the country may be something that you have always wanted to do. When you can learn about all of the physician positions around the country, you can ensure you are always employed. Work with a recruiter and let him or her know your goals. They can set you up with locum tenens contracts or simply go to work for you ever few years when you are ready to explore opportunities in another part of the country.
