When you hunt for a locale in the States which has just about everything, the Tampa-St. Petersburg locale might be one of these areas. There are among the better beach locations in the country, outstanding theme parks within an hour and one-half drive, museums and galleries, animal attractions and science centers. The weather is great, cruise lines are actually close at hand, and if you prefer city living Tampa is the third largest city in Florida and St. Pete the fourth. It has almost everything except mountains. You may have a marvelous moment soaking up the sun or just winding down. But if you would like a little real fun and interesting things to do, listed here are several ideas: 1. Beaches. You'll find numerous first-rate alternatives in short driving distance from downtown Tampa, but Fort De Soto County Park might stand out as the ideal for many people. It has been chosen the top beach in America by Trip Advisor, and although it averages somewhere around 2.7 million visitors to the park its seven miles of beach can accommodate a large amount of visitors. 2. Amusement parks. Only about sixty minutes or a little more from downtown Tampa is Orlando, the recreational capital worldwide. But just north a little ways is an excellent park in its own right: Busch Gardens Tampa. It has a collection of some of America's top roller coasters, nonetheless possibly what sets it separately is the Serengeti Plain, a huge place in which African wildlife freely roam. 3. Additional animal attractions. An excellent option here is the Florida aquarium, which is ranked as one of the top in the world. Some of the interactive exhibits can be extremely fascinating and creative, but try to get on the Eco-Tour on board their catamaran. They have numerous types of marine animals; even so they correctly highlight those from the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay region. 4. Science centers. The Museum of Science and Industry of Tampa helps keep kids engaged with many different hands-on devices to play with. The Imax Dome is likewise worth having a look at. To acquire a genuine local flavor of Tampa there's the Ybor City Museum. It is small but offers an excellent history of Cuban immigration to Tampa and the role the cigar industry played in the town's early development. Talking about Ybor City, this is actually a quaint spot near the cruise-line port and not a poor alternative for spending some time in. I have noticed that within the last five years this area has been spruced up a lot.
