Explore the Romanian wilderness and Fagaras Citadel

Business
Are you a fan of travelling? Do you fancy going to faraway lands and discovering hidden jewels of history amid the vast natural landscapes? If you love going abroad, then try out the various tours in Romania that most travel agencies are offering nowadays. More and more tourists are turning their attention to this stunning country which has so many different options to offer in terms of tourist destinations or locations of sheer beauty. A great example of such a suitable and exquisite mixture of outback and ancient castles or fortresses is the Fagaras region. Here are some of the most well-known and appreciated touristic spots in Fagaras, as well as some of the least known sights hidden in Romania’s mountains.

If you want to see where the wealth of Michael the Brave was hidden, you should plan a vacation to the Fagaras Fortress in the Country of Fagaras. The citadel looks like a sleeping giant with solid walls and alternating layers of gray stone and red brick. Reigning like an imposing king from his town situated high above the town, the fortress is still undisturbed by the passage of time and defies any modern buildings around. The Fagaras Citadel reminds locals and visitors alike of the long and rich history this region has had. As a tourist, a temporary holiday here will open your eyes and make you fully understand and admire the place where some of the most important Romanian personalities used to live. As an adult, you have the opportunity to open a page of history, to walk on the roads which were once travelled by armies and to see for yourself the places that witnessed some of the bloodiest battles in the country’s past, with significant stakes for the Romanian people. Undoubtedly, the Fagaras Fortress is one of the sights of particular importance for the Romanian culture. Regarding its location on the map, it is found in the heart of the Transylvania region and in the center of the county with the same name. The fort is impossible to miss, no matter if you come by car or by foot.

The impressive mountain range, which crosses through the middle of the country and makes up a third of the Carpathians Mountains, is also the place where Romania’s tallest peak is located. The Molodveanu Peak reaches as high as 2544 meters in altitude, making it the highest point in the country. In the heart of the Fagaras region, a settling lost in time is still hidden and remains one of the least known riches of this land: the Lucky Mill. If you're not careful, you can easily miss the indicator which signals the path to the Mill from the main road. To get there, first find the Ohaba village which is crossed by the DN73 National Road linking ?ercaia to Predeal. It is located between the villages of Sinca Veche and Sercaia, and you will have no problems reaching it with the directions of the helpful and friendly locals. Hopefully, these pieces of information will increase your desire to see an amazing country, such as Romania, and explore both the popular and amazing destinations, as well as the more secluded gems of the nature found in the vast and wild Fagaras mountains.
