Mike Biering believes that we have all been put on the planet for a reason. He feels that each human being has something unique to offer the world. It is through the exhibition of these talents, skills, and passions that people can express themselves in a way unlike anyone else. For Mike Biering, this uniqueness is due to the grace of God shining out of every living being. He strongly believes that his own personal skills and talents come to him directly from God, gifts for which he is thankful every day. Mike Biering’s faith plays a central role in how he lives his life. He strives every day to keep his faith foremost in his mind and let it affect everything he does. One of his primary passions is music – he is a drummer for a worship band called 12 Stone Church. Mike Biering could not imagine doing anything else with his musical gifts. In his mind, if God gave him the talent to play the drums, then it is only fair for Mike Biering to thank him for the gift through praise. Moreover, Mike Biering can use music to spread his faith to others, bringing a community together through praise and song. Mike Biering knows that not everyone has musical ability, but he still believes that everyone has something that they can offer God. For example, if someone is a talented artist, he or she can devote their artistic skills toward creating visual representations of praise and faith. Additionally, an artist can lend his or her experience to the local church, and help with design for any pamphlets, or with set design if the church is putting on a theatrical performance. Mike Biering’s logic follows similarly for writers or others involved in the fine arts. He feels there is always a way to express love and gratitude to God through art. However, even those whose skills lie outside the realm of fine arts can still use their talents in praise of God. Sports athletes can advocate prayer before games or speak publicly on behalf of their faith, as can actors and other celebrities. Those talented in business or math are always welcome volunteers at a church. A cook can help with charity events or after-Sunday school snacks. There is really no end to the good that one person can do in God’s name. For Mike Biering, it is only a matter of finding your talents, and using them in praise.
