Has anyone seen Gravity? Yes, the film that stars George Clooney and Sandra Bullock. Such a gripping movie, isn't it? And if you haven't seen the film yet, you are surely missing out on something brilliant. Most of them confess that it is probably the best film made in recent times, in Hollywood. Look at it this way, how many times does it happen that you leave the cinema hall after watching a film and go raving about it like a crazy person. Very few occasions, right? The film is directed by a Mexican genius by the name Alfonso Cuaron, who has managed to make the year's best English film. The story is about two astronauts, Sandra Bullock who plays the role of Dr. Ryan Stone and George Clooney who plays the role of Matt Kowalski, who find themselves in serious jinx during a space-walk when debris from a blown up Russian satellite starts heading in their direction. What lies ahead is nothing but a pure magic of the plot and how it manages to hold its audience to the edge of their seats. With top class performances and plot filled with a roller coaster ride in 3D, Gravity has to be my favourite pick to win the Best Picture award in the coming Academy Awards. After all it is the perfect example of an experience to its audience. But if you notice, the film has done well all thanks to the heavy promotion it seeded on most online portals. That is a new trend in the neighbourhood. Most brands and films have realised the importance of online presence and how cost effective it is to make anything popular, overnight. I remember the hype Gravity received when it was the new Hollywood video everyone was talking about. Though English video films are best targeted and promoted by television channels these days, it doesn't take time for it to be promoted by online users as well. Channels like Sony PIX, HBO and Warner Brothers are constantly innovating on how to build their presence online. While most of them target Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, few have gone to create their own channel portals to promote their shows, celebrity interviews and new movie videos and trailers. So needless to say the attempts put forth by these channels surely seem to be working for them. But the question here is to what will work for channels in the near future and how innovative they can get in the ever changing scenario of the promotions; it will be interesting to see.
