The World’s Fair Knot is the brainchild of Gary Martin and is one of the simplest, yet most effective methods of attaching line to a hook. As far as fishing knots go, it is a relatively new knot, which probably accounts for it not being seen a lot in common use. Although the World’s Fair knots only retains approximately 75% breaking strength of the original line, it’s advantage is that it works well in most nylon based fished lines and sizes and is super easy to tie. Besides being extremely quick and simple to tie, the World’s Fair knot, when complete, presents very little bulk. This makes it is an ideal knot for presentation and for many bait-rigging techniques that require work above the hooks eye. Pulling a worm up and over this knot is no problem at all. The versatility of the World’s Fair knot can be observed in its ability to be used with a wide variety of line sizes. A limiting factor of this knot can be the difficulty involved in passing the bight (doubled strands) through the eyelet when using finer hooks.
