Jules Svidunovich is an active hobbyist, with many diverse interests. He is often somewhat befuddled by how he ever finds time to pursue so many different paths. He does not consider landscaping to be just plain old “yard work.” Rather, to Jules Svidunovich, landscaping is an opportunity to make a work of art out of what otherwise would just be a boring patch of grass. Jules Svidunovich knows that there are many people out there who would also like to get into landscaping, but are not sure of how or where to start. This is totally understandable, as tearing up your whole lawn and starting over can be a daunting task, especially since there is no way to know how it will turn out until it’s finished. To help ease some anxiety, Jules Svidunovich has a couple tips for people who are thinking about landscaping their lawns: - Draw it out first. Jules Svidunovich knows that it can be tempting to form an idea in your head and just run with it, but he warns against doing that in this instance. You are much more likely to have a successful landscaping project if you take the time to draw up an accurate, to-scale representation of your yard. Jules Svidunovich recommends making two drawings, one of what the yard looks like now, and another of what you would like it to be.
- Have a theme. Jules Svidunovich advises that landscaping can quickly get out of control if you don’t have a unified theme from the start. Without a theme, it’s entirely likely you will end up with palm trees in one corner and a cactus sitting next to your fishpond in the other. And while all of those might sound cool, they do not actually fit very well together.
- Plan a budget first. Don’t just jump right in. Decide at the beginning how much you want to spend and then stick with it. Otherwise, you can easily end up with a project way outside your price range.
