Today I am going to deal with a subject that my namesake specializes in. Yes, I am talking about Mark Brewer the judo specialist. He also happens to be one of my acquaintances and I had a long conversation with him once. I love sports and follow all types of sporting events. Though Mr. Oak and Mr. Phoenix are not too inclined to watching judo matches with me, but I have forced them to do so on a couple of occasions. I love the vigor that a physical contact sports such as judo showcases. Judo is a Japanese form of martial art, but it is a sports event in the Olympics as well as other major competitions. There are many kids in New Zealand who are training every day to emulate the stardom that Mark Brewer has achieved. Selecting the judo clothing is an important part of the training regime. If you select a flawed judo uniform or Gi (as it is termed in Japanese) the opponents will immediately gain an advantage. So I thought of enlightening you on what to look for in a judo uniform. Judo uniform comprises of three vital parts – the jacket, the pants and the belt. Jacket of a judo uniform has a thick collar and wide sleeves. Though this dress might look odd to the style conscious but it is your protection while practicing judo. The judo uniform protects the practitioners from injuries and tears. Though the uniforms have to go through a lot of wear and tear but they sustain. There are two short splits on both sides of the hip and there is an extra clothing cover to protect the wearer from any injuries. There is a lot of pulling and pushing around in judo. So the belts come in handy to keep the clothing in its place. The belts are colored as par the level of expertise of the player. They should be tied tightly around the waist after wrapping them on the body. The pants are elasticized and have drawstrings from the waist. The size of the pants is crucial for any professional sportsman like Mark Brewer. If the pants do not have adequate room, then it could constrict your movement and throw you on the back-foot in any major competition. There should be enough padding around the knees and toes to prevent any injury. The judo uniforms are made of 100% cotton. Choosing cotton uniforms helps attain breathability. Pure cotton judo uniforms are pre-shrunken. They may expand when exposed to heat. This why it is advised to wash the uniforms only in cold water and then air dry them. It will prevent the uniforms from any shrinkage. Judo practitioners use their white cotton uniforms in regular exercises, but people like Mark Brewer who appear in major competitions may opt for Blue uniforms too. Though the coloration is different, all types of judo uniforms are made of pure cotton. High quality judo uniforms are light to wear and they can prevent the crucial parts of your body from any injuries.
