Why a London Guide is Essential for a Successful London Visit

Travel & Tourism
London has so much to offer in various fields of life whether in cultural activities, shopping, sightseeing or business, that a visit to the city is essential. However, you need to have a London Guide book that will give you complete information about the different places to visit and how to get there. London is one of the most visited cities of the world mainly because it offers something for everybody who comes here. It is the capital city of London and also the United Kingdom and the largest metropolitan area in Britain that has a lot of attributes and irrespective of what your interests are, you will find a lot to see or experience whether it is in the field of the arts, commerce, education, entertainment, fashion, finance, health care, media, professional services, research and development, tourism or transport. However, you need to consult a proper London Guide book to know where to go. London is a vast metropolis and its transport links and systems are superbly efficient with the result that moving from one place of the city to another or even to other parts of the country is very easy. Most visitors to the city land at Heathrow Airport which is the main gateway to the city and it is linked to Paddington Station in central London by the Heathrow Express train service that leaves Heathrow every 15 minutes and reaches Paddington Station in a non-stop journey enabling people landing at Heathrow Airport and those who are staying in the Heathrow area to reach central London with ease. For travelling within London, the underground railway network called the “Tube” is very effective and has a wonderful network that connects most parts of the city to other parts. London also has major rail terminals that link the city to all parts of mainland Britain. Besides these rail facilities, there are other transport options such as the world famous red London buses and the equally famous Black Cabs. A cycle hire scheme has also been introduced recently. A London Guide book can be very helpful for getting information regarding the various modes of transport. London is a very large city, almost thirty miles across its widest point and all across the city there are all types of hotels galore that satisfy the accommodation needs of all types of visitors who have different needs and who have different budgets for their stay. The hotels range from the most luxurious 5 star hotels such as the world-famous Savoy and Ritz hotels, to the cheap hotels and budget hotel chains such as Travelodge and Premier Inn and many bed and breakfasts and hostel rooms and even dormitories for those people who are on an extremely slender budget. It is however advisable to make your hotel reservation well in advance of your visit, regardless of the type of hotel that you select because people from all over the world come to the city for sightseeing and for business activities in their thousands every day. In order to know exactly which places to visit and how to get there, it is better to buy a good up-to-date London Guide. A little research with this guide should enable you to plan your stay and club together the places that are located close to each other so that you do not have to do unnecessary travelling. No visit to London can be complete without doing some shopping, even if it is window shopping, in Oxford Street that has outlets of some fantastic fashion houses and many other department stores and shops. London is also home to the famous Harrods and Selfridges and the fantastic toy shop Hamleys. The Covent Garden Market has a lot of stalls and interesting shops. London is also home to many cultural centres such as ballets, theatres, cinemas, operas, museums, art galleries.
