Tips to Hosting a Great Cocktail Party

Relationships
If your friends or coworkers are coming over for a cocktail party, you have to make an impression and make sure that the party will be awesome for you and your guests. So here are some tips and tricks for a memorable cocktail party:

The Bar

Place the bar in an area that provides enough room for your guests to approach it. Generally, the bar is an area in your home where people come together to mingle. Place your food and seating away from the bar to reduce congestion.

Creating The Cocktails

It is easier if you serve just one type of drink. This is of course unless you're hiring a bartender. If you want, you can base your drink on the season or on what you and your guests like to drink.

Make a cocktail with no more than 4 ingredients, excluding the garnish. However, three is best. This way, it would be easy for you or your friends to make cocktails quickly. Also, fewer ingredients cuts down on both mess and cost. Or serve drinks that can be prepared in advanced and serve them in a pitcher.

You can invite a few of your friends to come over and have a taste of the drinks you're planning to serve a few days before the party, ans ask for their honest opinion.

Prepare a Few Days Before

Set up the bar with nonperishables like tools for bartending and glassware. Decorate with old vintage bottles, ripe fruits, and paper lanterns. Have extra glassware in an easily accessible area, in case it is needed.

What To Do The Day of The Party

Buy all fruit, squeeze juices, and refrigerate them. Fresh orange, lime, and lemon juice will make your drinks taste way better. Freeze fruits for garnishes, such as straberries and white grapes. Set your air conditioner about eight degrees below what's usually comfortable, as a room gets warmer when there are people in it.

Decorating Tips

Make sure you have impressive glassware, but you don't have to spend much. Yo ucan go to garage sales, antiques markets, and thrift stores to save money. Bring out your creative juices. Mixing up colours and styles could add to the decor at your cocktail party. Also, prepare the music, as it sets the mood. If you're serving drinks from the 1930s to the 1940s, pick a well-known artist from that time period to play. If you have a records player, that's even better. Get a piece of dark coloured cloth and place it underneath the bar, so you won't have to worry about spills around your bar.

Things to Avoid Do not put candles on your bar, unless they're inside a tall hurricane glass. Do not forget the coasters. Do not overdecorate your bar with bottles and glassware. Be sure that there's plenty of room for your guests to pick up bottles and put them down again. Do not put spirits with 30 per cent or less ABV (alcohol by volume) into your freezer, as they will surely freeze. Check ABV on the label.

If you want to have cocktails drinks served to your guests fast, consider hiring a slurpee cocktail machine. Visit Cool Rush to learn where and how to hire these machines that make nice cool cocktails: http://www.coolrush.com.au/sydney.html.
