India, is known for its cultural diversity and is the cradle of around 415 languages. One from these 100s of our languages, one is the centre of our interest today. ?????? or Punjabi holds its status as one of the sweetest languages spoken around the world. A simple expression “Pehen de takke,” sounds to me as sweet as a term of endearment rather than that of conveying irritation or anger. Imagine the delight of enjoying 2 hours of a movie in a language this sweet, where the underlying tone always hints at hilarity, smiling or anything pleasant and feel-good. 2013 is a year packed with joy for Punjabi movie lovers as the year is set to bring some great entertainment with a number of upcoming Punjabi movies coming up. Starting with Haani, starring Harbhajan Mann and Sarbjit Cheema, working together for the first time which is exciting got their audience is amovie which seeks to promote the Punjabi culture with the backdrop of a dramatic plot. It released on 6th of this month and satisfying its audience very much. Second, Young Malang, which is the much awaited debut of singer Vinaypal Buttar with the direction and dialogues by Rajdeep Singh and production by Rahul Inder Singh Sidhu, is a mixture of romance and comedy and hits the theatres on 20th September. Third up, are Yaar Mera Rab Warga and Nabar, latter a family drama releasing on 27th September. The latter being directed by Rajeev Sharma with Nishawn Bhullar, Gitanjali Gill and Rana Ranbir playing the lead, with Rana Ranbir acting in both of them. Among numerous upcoming Punjabi Movies in 2013 Roonde Saare Viah Peecho, fondly abbreviated RSVP will hit the theatres on 11th October this year. One of the most popular actresses of Ounjabi cinema, the beautiful Neetu Baajwa alongwith the hunk-like Harish Verma will be playing the leads causing a lot of wait for all their fans. The movie is directed by Vijay Kumar Arora who has cinematographed for Bollywood movies like Tum Bin, ABCD, Vastav and the very brilliant Faltu. It is a romantic comedy and is one of the most awaited productions this year, shot in Amritsar and Gurdaspur. Fifthly, Ishq Garaari releasing on 25th October this year is already awaited with its starcast consisting of Shari Mann and Vijaypal Singh, and the most exciting thing being the music sung by the Punjabi rage, Yo Yo Honey Singh. Punjabi music is already so captivating when sad and foot tapping when fun, with the mixture of Honey Singh, the movie is sure to create serious fans. Next in line, releasing in the same month are Himmat Singh and Myself Ghaint, both with comic centrepiece. Other expected Rangroot and Full Fukre are the upcoming Punjabi movies which are yet to be announced but much anticipated. All in all, it’s a Kamaal da saal for Punjabi movie lovers.
