In the society the development of all the individuals is necessary irrespective of their cast, creed or background. Many visionaries have made it their goal to work on the elevation of the society as a whole starting from homes to prison. Often when we talk about the development of the society we keep our focus on the common people. This is nothing else but obvious; however it is not enough for the true development of the society as a whole. An inmate who is behind the bars has equal rights to become part of the society. Most of our rehabilitation and development programs are focused on after life of the prisoners. This can be beneficial but not as much as the improvement programs that can help in personal development of inmates within the prison. Well this is quite a debatable issue. Some people strongly agree to the point of prison improvement programs while others strictly protest against them. They all have their own viewpoints however the reality remains the same. If you want the real development of the society then you have to work on the development of prison environments and life of inmates as well. What you can do? There are many volunteers who run development and prison rehabilitation programs. Most of these volunteers advocate the prison education and are in favor of its development. You can join with these volunteers through many ways. You can work with them in extending their education programs for prisoners or you can join online and real campaigns run by them. This will help in spreading words about the rehabilitation programs for the prisoners and you can build a team of supporters. Now internet is a powerful and potential source for promotion of all kinds of campaigns. You can join various online groups supporting prison education and rehabilitation of the prisoners. There are many professional blogs as well online. The Benefits The awareness about the condition of the prisoners can help in improving the conducts against them. They are criminals but they are humans as well. They also have their rights and need to be given their share of living standard. This is not only important for only their development but it also affects their psychological and mental frame set as well. This is needed for helping them to get along with the society easily and make society crime free. Why should I care? There are many of you who will be thinking why I should care about all this. It is because the inmates once they return to the society they become part of it. You also belong to the same society and their development means more security for you. Clinical findings show that prisoners who enroll for rehabilitation programs like prison education have about 70% reduction in their recidivism behavior. This helps in them to nurture professional skills which they can use rehabilitate. This is important for the peace and security of the society making it a better place for future generations. The prison environment greatly affects the psychological health of an inmate. It should be apt enough to help the prisoners rehabilitate easily during their term period.
