5 Designs to Consider with Commercial Architecture

Business,Real Estate,Construction
Commercial architecture may be the biggest thing going on in your world right now. You’ve been tasked with creating a building for your business. Whether it is strictly for your business or it is going to house a variety of businesses, such as a full shopping center, there are some designs that you want to consider – and you will want to discuss them with your architect when you meet.

Elevators and Escalators

If you have multiple floors within the commercial architecture designs, you have to consider how everyone is going to get from level to level. Stairs are fine for some people – but you also want to be friendly for the handicapped – as well as for those who simply don’t want to climb all of the stairs. You then have to decide if you are going to go with elevators or escalators with a wheelchair lift on the side.

Not all companies can be like Google headquarters and install a slide. This may not be an option for you – though if you want to go with something a little different, talk with your architect and see if there’s a way to incorporate it or something like it along with an elevator and/or escalator.

Skylights and Windows

Skylights help to feed natural light into the building, as does windows. Windows can also help others to see what’s going on within the building – which can be a marketing tool on its own. Depending upon your goals for the commercial architecture plans, you will want to consider all of the skylights and windows – and see how they play into what you need your building to be.

Fountains

Fountains can provide a certain serenity within space. If you want a fountain at the entrance, in the lobby or anywhere else, you want to make sure your architect gets it in the plans early on as it will affect plumbing, power and overall design.

Rotundas

If all of the aisles and doors and walls are flat, it can lead to visitors getting bored. When you want to obtain a better design with commercial architecture, think about asking for a rotunda here and there. This curvature can add character to your space so it’s not so boring looking.

Open Spaces

No one likes to feel as though they are stuffed into a building. When you look at commercial architecture designs, it’s important to have enough open spaces throughout the design to give people a breather. These can be filled in later on if needed with kiosks and such, but it is important to have in the original designs.

Especially if you are planning on having a lot of employees, clients or customers, you need open spaces for people to go and gather. If there are no open spaces, they are going to block the hallways and entrances – making it hard for anyone to move. Think of it like a two-lane highway versus a four-lane highway. Four lanes provide more movement overall than two.

Duane Bradshaw Architects, Houston architect, provides quality architectural design Houston services for professional, commercial, industrial, religious, high-tech and adaptive reuse spaces.
