Most books, fiction and non-fiction alike are written to give credence to an idea or thought. They are the result of the writer's desire to express discovered facts from his experiences. Most non-fiction writings are authoritative works done to lend a voice to a discovery, or to support and be a proponent of a school of thought. A fictional work, however may spin from the writer's experiences alone, build from the realistic onto the limitless world of fantasy, or be entirely and absolutely imaginative. A novel that is told from the experiences and world view of the writer feeds from the realities of the writer without necessarily revealing the details of actual occurrences, or the stories of real people. Such a novel draws from the real life situations and translate knowledge of scenarios onto fictitious characters as the writer attempts to build the novel into a captivating beginning with an interesting build up into a climax and the necessary conclusion. An example of a novel that falls under this category is Non- official asset by William Sawell, a former CIA agent who drew on his years of experience to produce this edge -of -your- seat, intelligence -steeped page turner. John Grisham is another writer whose real life experiences filter unhindered into his fiction works. The stories he tells in his books are circumstances that could just easily play out or may have happened. His stories are told from the well researched and eloquent rostrum of a lawyer. Other novels begin with the familiar and make a smooth and interesting journey into uncharted regions of the imagination of the writer. Such stories begin from the seemingly realistic ideas that the readers can easily wrap their brains around; a beginning that is acceptable by reason; it then takes us on a trip on which natural rules are relaxed or suspended altogether. Books like The lightning thief by Rick Riordan, Harry potter by J.K Rowling and The Lion The witch and The Wardrobe by C.S Lewis are good examples of novels that make this transition. In all three novels the writers builds from the practical occurrences that constitutes natural struggles which lead to the escape into fantasy. In The Lighting Thief, Percy Jackson is a twelve years old boy with dyslexia who moved around a lot and is unable to make a impression. His mediocrity ends, however during a visit to the metropolitan museum of arts. In Harry potter, Chamber of secrets for instance, Harry is sent to spend a terrible summer with his family. His stay was made worse by Dobby and his imprisonment by the Dursleys. He was rescued by his friend and brothers in a flying car and from that point the incredible never stopped. The children in The Lion The Witch and The wardrobe, Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy were evacuated along with other children from London During World War Two to keep them away from the bombardment by the military. They were sent to live with Professor Digory Kirke in his country home in the English country side where they discovered magic. There are other novels that have no respect whatsoever for realism. They begin from the incredible and stay with it to its culmination. Stories like Alice in Wonder Land and Hunger games take readers on a journey into the mind of the writer where the laws of nature are stopped as the writer maneuvers his reader into becoming abreast with the rules that apply in his own world. customized essay
