Mizuno has released its second generation line of Mizuno JPX825, including driver, irons, woods and hybrids. The new cheap golf clubs continue the originals’ theme of balancing ball speed with forgiveness, without chunky top lines and too much offset. Mizuno believes the high powered JPX line is also its route back to becoming a bigger player in the metal-headed wood market and ahead of next month’s launch - usually reserved for January - has included a sleek-looking cheap Mizuno JPX825 driver, together with fairway woods and hybrids. With sharper edges and a more triangular appearance it certainly is a stand out look that may not appeal to all. However, visually it does work as the V in the grooves on the face mirrors the V-styling of the head, in what is a very classy looking driver. The driver seemed relatively hard work to get going, possibly because the feel and sound were a little muted, which is a shame as the JPX825 driver is a big improvement on the previous model despite this. Mizuno say the the heavier weight that they have put in the sole increases forgiveness and makes this a driver for going straight, rather than one you shape. The standard cheap Mizuno JPX825 irons and wood lines, says Mizuno, are “all about ball speed and distance with much better feel and playing profile.” The short irons have a more compact cavity and at address are some of the best looking cavity back short irons we have seen, with a large head and a very playable sole design that is not chunky. Looks aside the performance of the JPX825 iron is just as good as the previous version. They are very forgiving and send the ball on a good trajectory with good feel for a cast iron. The lofts are stronger than most with a 45 degree picthing wedge so you will need to get the gaps covered with a few gap and sand wedges to your putter. The head of cheap Mizuno JPX825 fairway wood is actually a little bigger than it looks with a good sized footprint that is larger than most other better player fairways. This means the club sits in a lovely neutral position and at address you have a clear view of the ball and face which is great for helpnig you line up correctly. There are not many titanium fairways around and the Mizuno JPX825 makes you wonder why. The sound and feel is excellent with a powerful flight that zings off the face on a medium-high trajectory. The JPX825 was one of those clubs that puts a big smile on our face and we want to hit it over and over just for fun. The JPX range is supposedly for mid handicappers but we feel that JPX825 fairway performs so well it should be looked at by single figure handicappers too.
