Wine, well there is nothing as usually about this word for most of us. However for many it means way too more than just ‘wine.’ No I have not lost it and as Ernest Hemingway famously said- “Wine is one of the most civilized things in the world and one of the most natural things of the world that has been brought to the greatest perfection, and it offers a greater range for enjoyment and appreciation than, possibly, any other purely sensory thing.” There cannot be better way to appreciate the importance of wine. It has now become an important now part of everyday meal for many a people and even many cuisines are simply based on wines. Again when we talk about wines there are millions of varieties and brands that slide within seconds in our minds. However none of them are as appealing as the French Wines. The French Wines Not French wines actually, it will be more appropriate to say the Rhone wine. If you are a real wine lover then this wine should be among top most positions in your priority list. The major production of wines in France takes place in Southern France in Rhône river valley. That is why the name Rhone Wine is so popular. The major production of these wines is Côtes du Rhône AOC appellation. The region of Rhone is divided into two major parts; the Northern and the Southern Rhone. Both these regions have their typical wine production known by their typical region of origin. The Northern Rhone Wine In this region wine is produced from the Syrah grape which is a major attraction of the northern Rhone wines. Also for some wines the Syrah grapes are blended with grapes for white wine which is mainly produced in region of Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne. Among these the Viognier grape wines have the best and most exotic aroma. The Sothern Rhone Wine The Southern Rhone region is the largest or major producer of wine in the whole Rhone valley. Almost 90% of the total production of wines in this region is from south. The Southern Rhone wine is much more rustic and comes with rich blends. Wine in this area is produced majorly from Grenache grape. This variety of grape is high-alcoholic and thus the wine is prepared with a blend of spices and wild herbs. You will never find any other variety of wine as exotic as the southern Rhone wine. Châteauneuf-du-Pape is an apt example of blended wine production in the southern Rhone region. Few words about South African wines Just for my personal satisfaction I wanted to share something about South African wines. It will be a total unjust not to give them the much required appreciation they deserve. South Africa started the production of wine from as late as 1659 and you will find 60 appellations of wines there. You will simply fall in love with these wines and especially with the Cape port style wine. So what are you waiting for? All wine lovers should get your hands on these wines for experiencing the best of wines in the world. Without Rhone wine you cannot have the real sense of about wines. Also the South African wines are a must have experience if you are a real lover of wines.
