The most prominent aspect of a woman's beauty is the hair. Unfortunately, signs of hair loss or thinning hair can ruin any woman's day. In most cases, such signs are profoundly associated with declining health status. As much as it is very normal for human beings to lose 50 to 100 strands of hair daily, some women can lose up to 250 strands. The best way to diagnose your hair loss as a woman is by checking your pillow every morning when you wake up. Generally, when more than normal amount of hair strands is left in your comb, then you should be worried. Ideally, the best way to prevent hair loss is by avoiding the following causes of hair loss in women. Medical conditions According to a recent research, a wide range of medical conditions can cause hair loss in women. For instance, medical conditions such as diseases and infections that interfere with your body's hormonal levels and immune system can significantly cause hair loss. Such medical conditions include thyroid problems, skin disorders caused by infection and diseases like Alopecia areata that interfere with your body's immune system. Medications Some medications are considered to be among the leading causes of hair loss. Drugs used to treat cancer, depression, heart problems and arthritis can stimulate hair loss. Also, some non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can also cause the same effect when used for a prolonged time. Hairstyles and hair manipulations It is quite noteworthy that most women are not aware that certain hairstyles cause hair loss. Hairstyles that cause your hair to be pulled too tightly, such as cornrows and pigtails that cause a type of hair loss called traction alopecia. There is a couple of things that women do to manipulate their hair like dying, treating hair with chemicals, intense blow drying and flat ironing. These things tend to cause hair breakage, especially when hair is wet. Hereditary causes According to a recent study report published by the Academy of Dermatology in the US, androgenetic alopecia (hair loss that's genetic) is the commonest cause of women's hair loss. For instance, the gene associated with this condition can be genetically transmissible from parents with traits of androgenetic alopecia. However, you may only be rendered vulnerable if both your parents have this pattern of hair thinning. Hair loss begins with hairline recession behind the bangs in women who inherit this trait. Fortunately, this condition develops slowly, but can start earlier before your 20s. David C. Brown holds a Masters and Bachelors degree. After being 'hair challenged' I became interested in what I could do to save my hair. I have a website dealing with information on hair restoration, and it is completely natural.
