With Adam Scott earning his first green jacket, Titleist certainly had a Masters to remember. Scott played with a brand-new Titleist 913 D3 driver – in fact, he put it in his competition bag for the first time at Augusta National. Scott was custom fit for the new driver on the Wednesday before the Tampa Bay Championship, according to Titleist, then continued to play his old driver while working with the new one in practice leading up to the Masters. Scott switched to his new driver from a Titleist 910 D3 driver for sale – the model that preceded the 913D3. His new 913D3 9.5-degree driver has an A-1 (neutral) SureFit Tour Hosel setting with a Graphite Design Tour AD DI 8, X flex graphite shaft at 44.75 inches, according to Titleist. The 913's 6-4 Titanium face insert has a thick central portion that mirrors the outer face profile. As you move out from the center, however, the insert is thinner and tapered so that it matches up with the body thickness at the edge of the face. It is also 2 grams lighter than the 910's face insert, and that mass is redistributed to the SureFit Tour weight low on the head. The cheap 913 D2 driver features a 460cc full-pear shaped head designed for maximum forgiveness and a slight draw bias, while the 913D3 has a slightly smaller 445cc classic pear shape that is forgiving with extra workability. Unlike the 910 series, both D2 and D3 models now offer the same launch and spin characteristics to provide maximum fitting flexibility. The new 913D2 and 913D3 drivers have equivalent launch and spin because their Center of Gravity positions are equally low. "Golfers can now choose their 913 model based on size or shape preference, amount of forgiveness or workability, and amount of draw bias," said Stone. "They can then dial-in their launch and spin settings precisely using the SureFit Tour hosel." According to Titleist, the big difference is that the new one adds stability through the stroke thanks to the design of its head, and the fact that the head is perimeter weighted. The semi-circular head is made of aluminum and includes a balance bar running perpendicular to the face of golf clubs for sale. In addition, four tungsten weights are positioned under four adjustable stainless steel weights in the far four corners of the head. The one Scott is using is 49 inches tall, and has a 79-degree lie angle and 3 degrees of loft. Scott was asked whether he thought yet another major won by a long putter might have an impact on the USGA and R&A's decision to ban the anchored putting stroke.
