Azoospermia is referred to as no sperm count. It occurs in 5% of the infertile male population. Azoospermia is classified into three types. Pretesticular azoospermia, testicular azoospermia, and posttesticualr azoospermia. Azoospermia can result from a problem with sperm production or sperm delivery. The cause includes high fever, undescended testicle, obstruction of seminal ducts, testicular infection, certain hormone disorder. The initial diagnosis includes taking medical history, physical examination. Then blood tests are taken that include testosterone and follicle stimulating hormone. After that, two semen samples are needed. With each sample, a standard semen analysis is performed.
