Help yourself with Honeysuckle

Business,Health
Honeysuckle- If you are into gardening then you must have come across this plant and if not then definitely heard about it. They are arching shrubs or twining vines and come from the family 'Caprifoliaceae'. Mostly native to the Northern Hemisphere, there are around 180 species of honeysuckle. Out of 180, 100 species are found in China itself and 20 native species each are found in Europe, India and North America. Some of the widely known species are Lonicera periclymenum, Lonicera japonica and Lonicera sempervirens. Children love Japanese Honeysuckle or Lonicera japonica because they can suck the sweet nectar from its flowers. Many adults hate it as it grows quickly and can strangle other plants.

Now why are we suddenly discussing about this plant! Its just to inform you that recent study on this plant brought its many beneficial properties into our knowledge. The main active ingredients of the honeysuckle extract is chlorogenic acid (chlorogenic acid, CGA) and luteolin glycosides (Luteolin). The other names of CGA are coffee tannic acid, caffeic acid (eafeic acid) and quinic acid( quinic acid). The presence of chlorogenic acid has a wide range of biological effects. It is considered as an important factor in plant metabolism. Its an antioxidant and has anti-fungi effectivity, stronger than the antibacterial effectivity. The CGA of honeysuckle can be used in drugs, health products and cosmetic's raw materials.

Honey Suckle Flowers Extract is anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial in nature which enhances the immune function. It has relatively lower toxicity level and low side-effects. Due to its obvious anti-infectious effects, it not only can be used in pharmaceutical field but also can be used widely in many other fields like food, feed additives and cosmetics. It shows positive results towards wide anti-virus and anti-infectious effects. Honeysuckle has inhibitory effect on the typhoid bacillus, paratyphoid bacillus, Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabills, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bordetella pertussis, Vibrio cholerae, Staphylococcus as well as on streptococcus.

Some homemade benefits are also acknowledged such as honeysuckle tea. It eliminates or reduces excess heat from your body when you are hit with heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Honeysuckle is also used for digestive disorders including pain and swelling (inflammation) of the small intestine (enteritis) and dysentery, upper respiratory tract infections, influenza and pneumonia, other viral and bacterial infections, swelling of the brain (encephalitis), fever, boils, sores and etc. Physicians suggest honeysuckle for urinary disorders, headache, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and cancer. Some people use it to promote sweating, as a laxative, to counteract poisoning, and birth control too.

Honeysuckle is sometimes applied to the skin for inflammation and itching to kill germs. Time and again it has been proved that how useful and valuable a single shrub could be. With so many advantages this drug or plant extract can benefit every human being in their everyday life. It can be a boon to the mankind if practised or utilized efficiently.
