Mizuno MP-64 Irons is fantastic with a tight dispersion

Hattori, the Japanese player coming off a victory last week in the Japan LPGA's IDC Otsuka Ladies, closed with a 67 to finish second, six strokes back in the event sanctioned by the LPGA Tour and JLPGA. Lim Eun-a was third at 8 under, and Chung Il-mi, Wei Yun-jye and Lee Jee-young followed at 7 under.

Shin played Mizuno MP-64 Irons the front nine in 4 under -- birdieing Nos. 2 and 3 and holing an eagle chip on the par-5 seventh -- to move four strokes ahead of Hattori and Lee. Lee birdied the 10th to cut Shin's lead to three, but had a double bogey on the par-3 11th.

Each Mizuno MP-64 iron is Grain Flow Forged from a single 1025E Pure select mild carbon steel billet for a pure feel. The longer irons feature a deeper cavity, providing forgiveness where it is needed most. The cavity depth progressively reduces down to the short irons which are thick and exclusively feel-orientated.

"I was very nervous on the first tee," Shin said. "But I made birdies on the second and third holes and got more comfortable and confident." Shin birdied the par-5 13th and had a six-stroke lead with four to play. She three-putted for a bogey on the par-4 15th, only her second bogey on the week and first in 47 holes, then birdied the par-5 16th and closed with two pars.

This allows the sole to be a little wider than usual for an MP iron and the MP-64 has the weight a little lower in the sole than the Mizuno MP-53 irons. The diamond back places more weight behind the hitting area which did make it feel very solid at impact.

With feel being priority number one, Mizuno once again turned to its Harmonic Impact Technology (HIT) to optimize the sound and feel of the club at impact. This is important because much of what a player interprets as feel is the sound that the club makes at impact. When you are known for making some of the best feeling irons around you kind of have to get this right, and this time around it seems that Mizuno has.

The cavity on the longer irons is a little deeper than cheap MX 300 Irons on the mid and short irons. The Diamond Muscle Pad coupled with the Progressive Flow Cavity design allows for the club to have the feel and control of a blade while adding a little bit of forgiveness. To further enhance the golfers ability to control and shape their shots, Mizuno has gone with at tour confirmed sole and compact head size. The clubs also feature modified U groves to optimize the spin rate maximizing playability in all conditions.

If you have read any of the other reviews I've written, you'll know that I'm a fan of sleek and simple designs. These cheap golf clubs are exactly that. The irons have a beautiful mirrored finish with only three markings on the back of the club.
