In the 18 century of Japan, geisha were became known for entertaining client, they serve as the dancers, singers and a well-played in music. Most of the geisha were wandering girls because of their families were derange and struggling in the late 600s. They were called saburuko girls or serving girls, some of them were sold as a sexual services while others which had an education made a living as a high-class entertainers in every social gatherings. When the imperial court moved the capital to Heian-kyo which now called Kyoto, there are 794 conditions for a Japanese lady of becoming a geisha which began of the culture to arise. It became as the home of beauty-obsessed elite where a talented female dancers such as radiate on Japan. Japanese men embraced the traditional of sexual ecstasy with a geisha which is not a Shinto Taboo and these men were not being affectionate and faithful with their wife. According in the history, their ideal wife was a humble lady, meek and a self-concious mother with a modest proclivity that can take care of the home. In the Confucian custom, love had only the secondary significance and men were not able to enjoy of taking pleasures with their wife but in the courtesies, where a house of geisha performs and fulfilling their sensual needs. A year passed by and being a geisha who worked and accepting pleasure in the quarters were constantly imprisoned and strictly to forbid of selling sex in order to protect the business of the Oiran. Otherwise, a licensed courtesies geishan continue to accept an intimacy or sexual needs of their client. With a period of the existence of geisha, they were classified into ranks of geisha, geisha with only occupation is to entertain their customer with their art forms and some would have sex with their male client. Being a geisha is not a simple as you think, at their very young age they were brought in the geisha houses of okiya as children unitl they become mature and can perform of what sevices of the clients desire. They were being taught of dancing with art form, playing music and how to serve their customers. As they become 20 to 22 of age, they were called as “maiko”(dancing girls and an apprintice) whereas this stage can be last for years. Who is Sayuki? A foreigner named Fiona Graham, an Australian beauty which has the love of fascinating of culture in Japan became a geisha. She went an exchange programme in Japan at the age of 15 and most of her time completing studies at the university in there. When she return in Australia with a degree of MBA in Anthropology, she carry out of being a freelance film director whereas she decided to make a movie about the enduring process of being a geisha in which she offered as the case subject with a new name with her as “Sayuki”. She undergone in a strict training with the help of her geisha mother on the step by step method of being a performer in which she accepted it with all her heart to engage before she make a film. After six years the film is not yet accomplished and still using the name of Sayuki even so it is an aspiration for her. What is a geisha? Geisha as mentioned above is a Japanese woman who entertains their client of performing arts in dancing and playing music in some part, offering pleasure with their customers. It is a traditonal of secretive society in Japan which last for about 400 years and still up to this day, it continues its forms. They were gathered in a Japanese tea-houses or a private shinding where they performed their talents in japanese clothing. Sayuki stated that even in the Western, they have a traditional of private entertainment where most of the geisha must not reveal their true age because of the customs and practices. She even compare Bach and Mozart were going in the houses of amusement just to perform. She also said that the traditions in entering of amusement house were gone but in Japan is still much cognizant about it. Sayuki uses a flute and shamisen(Japanese flute) to perform other geisha as well if there is a private banquets. She added that usually geishas are being called upon the confide in of the budget of the client. Commonly, it was mix by the older geisha and younger ones, the older geisha is the one who augment for the banquet because they are much more experienced in conversation. How does a foreigner become accepted? By its squandering of idealism of being in a house of geisha at Tokyo’s Akasuka district, she finally made a debut in 2007 were her geisha name entitle her as a “transparent happines”. She told that, being a foreign geisha is not simple because of the customs you followed were strict and eminent which she might thought that, men in Japan might against her of being a foreign geisha but actually they supported her and encouraging her to continue. Two years after her mother geisha retired, Sayuki carry on to its path of living a geisha were she helped other girls of becoming an absolute performers where she established her own geisha house. She added that, it is not possible of living like a geisha in Japan, she knows the language of it, but still she faces a challenges because of the traditions, for her it is a hundred year old like a Shakespearean world that even the language is an obsolete and difficlut to understand for a local speaker. Why did she do it? She stated that, the only reason why she became a geisha? It is because of the tradition she want to continue in order to conserve the idealism of art. On how to keep the culture in the modern age without lowering its form. And now, she’s building an international advent in traveling and performing the art of geisha not only to entertain foriegn clients but to attract the beauty of this method of profession. She will be performing in Dubai this day until Tuesday where she finished performed at the wedding in Greece. She also added, a geisha doesnt travel that much but to introduce the elegance of the Japanese culture where the world can see her excellency. Whenever she go travel in every places, she talks and show a footage on how to process of being a geisha and how they perform the art of it.
