I want to bring you into the life of a person suffering from emetophobia. This is an irrational fear of vomiting in public. For me, that doesn't seem that unreasonable, since I do have a bit of a fear vomiting in public, but the keyword here is irrational. These people are so scared of this happening that they will cut themselves off from society. This is a big problem for a lot of people and I wanted to share a little more on this topic and how people are overcoming emetophobia. The people that are suffering from emetophobia can be your friends. They could come out to a restaurant with you and some other friends, but not end up eating anything. You ever wonder what was going on in their head? They're thinking the food prepared isn't sanitary. There could be germs on it to make them sick. Someone could of sneezed all over it, or the food is old, or etc etc etc. As you can tell it's a very anxiety ridden issue, but it goes into a lot of different areas. These people won't like to be around others because someone might be sick and give it to them. What happens is that they close off from society. There home is the only safe place because they can control everything in there. This phobia basically takes a strangle hold over their life. There are some great ways to overcome emetophobia. They work on getting past the anxiety of things and allow you to start taking your life back. I know how important this is to most sufferers because most don't like being afraid of these things.
