Late term abortion is usually done after the 20th week of pregnancy. This means that the baby is already in its 5th month onwards. There are times when babies even before the 20th week are already considered hard to abort. Complications Like with other types of abortion, late term abortion can come with a lot of complications. In some extreme cases, women who try to have their babies aborted during the latter part of the pregnancy end up dead. There are times when the doctor has not been trained enough and will do what is normally done with earlier abortions. Other complications are the following: Hemorrhaging There are some pregnant women who bleed too much while the fetus is being aborted. This is true not only for late term abortions but for other types of abortion as well. The bleeding can be caused by a lot of things but it can become too extreme that it already leads to hemorrhaging. When this happens, immediate blood transfusion is recommended but some women suffer too much from the complications. Scratched or Ruptured Uterus Some women who survive the late term abortion will not have the privilege to have a child again because the uterus has been scratched up too much that it cannot accommodate a child anymore. This can be a huge problem especially when the woman is already prepared to have her very own child. Other than the uterus, there are also instances when women suffer from problems with their other internal organs because it has been affected by all of the instruments that have been used to scrape off other body parts of the fetus that might have been left behind after the initial abortion.
