A student may come across a difficult topic in his NCERT book. The key to doing well is to adopt a step by step approach towards learning instead to trying to learn everything at once. Since the exam season is not over yet and a lot of people are still deeply immersed in their NCERT textbooks or their copies and are frantically practicing for the upcoming entrance tests, it may be worthwhile to know that even the unachievable is possible if one adopts a step by step approach towards learning. Most students set up a routine when it comes to studies and it is true that nothing can be achieved without routine; but the key is to follow the same steps that you take every day, because only practice can make you perfect. Here are 5 easy steps that can help you to score well: The first step is to become aware of your situations. While it is true that every individual cannot excel in every subject; a good idea would be to circle or write down your problematic areas as and when you encounter them in your NCERT book. Once you are aware of the concepts that need clarifications or your areas of concern, half of your work is already done. Now all you have to do is figure out how to solve your problem. After identification of problems, the best way to tackle them is by practicing. Most NCERT textbooks have a detailed approach towards how you should be going about a particular numerical or topic. Follow the guidelines and adopt the approach that is best suited to you. Also, if you do not succeed in getting it right the first time, don’t be disheartened because that it how things usually are. Instead take your failures as lessons and continue to keep learning from them. While learning from our failures, most of us expect that we shall become Zen Masters overnight and that is where our disappointment creeps in. We strive for success so badly that we forget the most important lesson of all – taking baby steps. It is not possible to achieve ultimate success in a day. So if you are having problem with a particular topic, try tackling individual concepts within the topic rather than approach it as a whole. It will help you in getting better results. Most people may not agree on this point, but maintaining a diary or a journal about your progress is absolutely crucial. It is a physical proof of your improvement. So if you have been struggling with a particularly hard topic in your NCERT book for an entire week and are feeling thoroughly discouraged, the journal will show you that you have progressed, even if it has only been by 10% each day; you will eventually get there. Finally and most importantly, revise. Toppers do not have superpowers – they merely practice each day and revise repeatedly what they have already learned. If they can do it, you can too. These five steps are to help you achieve good results in not only your boards but also all entrance examinations. The thing to remember is that there is no magic formula – even the Zen Master had to adopt a step by step approach.
