Sliding around a gravelly curve or screaming through Monte Carlo street track, dual-motor force feedback and as mentioned before a six-speed shifter make the world’s greatest tracks feel closer than ever. On the top of the wheel hub there is a streamlined plastic fairing containing a 10 LED array, with 5 pairs of lights that illuminate in an advancing string from green color to red, indicating relative rpm and arrival at the desired shift point on the power curve. This feature is great for drivers who prefer to drive in other than the regular cockpit view and is similar to those that is used in real life Formula series this days. It is available in almost every sim racing game as Logitech immediately created a software developer kit (SDK) for simulation development teams, and since then game titles support this G27 feature. Although this is a very good addon to the wheel it is placed badly and useless if the game doesn't support it. Originally platforms that G27 comes into the first plan are PC, PS 2 and PS3, but since not so long ago there are also available adapters with which you can connect your wheel to xbox 360 platform. The G27 kit, wheel, pedals and shifter weigh in at almost 20lbs. This makes the wheel itself very sturdy. The force feedback is strong, but that can be adjustable in any racing game and software program of the wheel, to your style of driving. It is also very realistic and provides to the player a big amount of realism. The steering turning ratio can be adjusted all the way up to 900° rotation which is way too much for most games except the ones where you drive a cars that need that amount of steering degree. For most of the car games 1000 the best setting of steering degree is between about 180 and 230 degrees. G27 wheel was made to improve all imperfections of G25 wheel. Its precursor was at the time one of the best steering wheels and actually still is in that top 10 list, but with G27 Logitech made some noteworthy improvements. The shifter has been refined and no longer suffers from the shortfalls of the original. The feel of H-pattern shifter is a lot better as it was completely redesigned although it looks the same on the outside look. There is also no more light clicking noise that really made the G25 shifter sound weird. With successor there are available six programmable buttons (three left, three right) located on the wheel itself and a nifty rpm indicator. The next very welcome improvement is that you can adjust your pedal location of each pedal face about one quarter to the left or right. In comparison to G25 brake and clutch pedals of G27 are moved forward with the help of a 13 mm spacer block behind pedal face and this really helps the sim racers more effective and natural heel-and-toe braking. When G27 came to the market it was understandable more expensive than G25, but nowadays it can be actually even cheaper as it is very hard to get a new G25 on the market. And as you might know older the technology, harder you can get, more costly it is. All in all G27 is a great wheel, and for the price that is for it set nowadays possibly the best one on the market for casual racers. It still has some weaknesses, but Logitech did a really good job with it. This product is your top choice for all great racing games.
