Class 10 and 12 Board exams are an important and integral part of every student’s life. Here is a list of top 5 things that you must do before you sit for your exams. The Class 10 and class 12 Board exams are just round the corner and just like the students; many parents are also having sleepless nights about it. This is invariably the time when lots of unsolicited advice keeps pouring from all corners about what to do and what not to. Parents too are at a loss of ideas if they are dealing with this panic for the first time for a child. Here is a look at the top 5 things that you must do to keep yourself sane during these insanely panicky times. 1. Do not forget to take running notes in class. When the teacher is explaining concepts in class, he or she at times lets out much more information than that is readily available in the book. Also, the explanation by the teacher is lucid and avoids the ornamental languages used in most books. If you take notes during class, it will help you to organize your study later. 2. Study regularly and preferably during the same time. If you are preparing for your Tamil Nadu Board exams and have a habit of studying in the afternoons after school, do not change your routine just because it is a study leave. That way your body clock which is accustomed to a particular way of functioning will get confused. Tamil Nadu is a hot state so study leave should not mean that you study early in the morning and sleep during the sultry afternoons as it will be opposed to your normal schedule. 3. Take a break and engage in some activity of hobby as per your interest. Just because it is your Class 10 Board examinations, does not mean that you have to study 12 hours a day. Researchers have proven that studying in short spans of two or three hours each and taking some time off after that helps one to come back refreshed so that you can concentrate better on your studies. 4. Do not simply mug up; instead, understand the concepts of what you are studying. That way, even if you forget the exact mugged up answer in the examination hall, you will be able to create an answer in your own words because the concept is clear to you. Most Board toppers say that ‘how you study’ is much more important than ‘how many hours’ you study. 5. And last but most importantly, never compromise on food and sleep. Eat plenty of fruits, green vegetables and proteins as they help you stay alert. Avoid foods with high sugar content. Drink plenty of water and keep your body hydrated. Also, sleep for at least 7-8 hours a day. It helps your brain to process all the information that you have put in it. Use these tips as a ready-reckoner before any major examination and you will never again have a reason to worry. Do you too have some tips?
