05/17/12 -- PARC, a Xerox company today announced PARC Research Fellow Van Jacobson 's inaugural induction to the Internet Society's Internet Hall of Fame . Jacobson joined PARC in 2006 to lead the Content-Centric Networking (CCN) program. The Internet Society, which is celebrating its 20th anniversarythis year, honored Jacobson as one of the landmark "Innovators" whomade outstanding technological, commercial, or policy advances andhelped expand the Internet's reach. Others honored in the firstannual Internet Hall of Fame include Vint Cerf and Tim Berners-Lee."It's a great honor to be recognized by the Internet Society, andI'm humbled to be included with such distinguished company,"Jacobson said. The award was announced while the Emerging Networks Consortium(ENC) was holding its first meeting at PARC on April 23-25, 2012.The invitation-only meeting was attended by delegates from membercompanies Alcatel-Lucent, BT, France Telecom-Orange, Huawei, MACH,Panasonic Corporation, and Samsung, as well as representatives fromthe NDN project and PARC scientists and business executives. Including keynote presentations from industry leaders Jacobson andJuniper Networks distinguished engineer Colby Barth, the meetingfeatured three full days of presentations, panels, demonstrations,use cases, and discussions around CCN. The focus of this meetingwas on industry sectors such as carriers, consumer electronics, andequipment manufacturers, and on topics that included adoptionstrategy, interoperability, and standardization.
