The client, an 87 year-old woman, had chosen to age in place in her home, but required extra care from her daughter who was simultaneously caring for her young family. The family called ComForcare when the daughter realized she needed to make some decisions regarding the care of her aging mother. The mother was living in an assisted living center but had recently shown signs of declined health and interest. Because it was difficult for the woman to get around, she had withdrawn from social activities, and was not eating well because she did not feel well enough to go to the dining room. The woman was also incontinent, was not sleeping well, and had been diagnosed as depressed. ComForcare Mokena began by spending time talking with the woman which helped alleviate her loneliness. Her home care providers helped her take short walks through the community, pushing her in a wheel chair when she was too tired to walk by herself. Her home care provider also encouraged her to go to community activities, and planned and prepared meals for the mother that she enjoyed and invited friends over to share them with her. ComForcare also helped with household tasks by catching up on her laundry and doing some of her grocery shopping to relieve the daughter of that task. In addition to assisting with daily tasks, ComForcare helped bring peace of mind for the daughter.
