Although lasers have been used for over half a century, people still consider them to be an item that is more science fiction than science fact. When you really consider the reality of the matter, lasers are used in almost any industry and they are used for purposes which are relatively common. Although that is true and lasers are used in industry, science and medicine, there is going to be some specific differences from one laser machine to another that you should understand. After all, some lasers are going to simply throw a light on the wall while others may be used to cut heavy material or even to measure great distances accurately. One of the types of machines that are used takes advantage of high power diode lasers. These can be used for many different purposes, including long-distance alignment. When one of these diode lasers is set up properly, it is going to throw a beam of light that will not waiver to the right or to the left. As a result, you can throw the beam over a long distance which will allow you to align things along the way or to keep to distant objects in alignment with each other for a variety of needs. Those types of lasers can also be used for educational demonstrations. If you have a handheld laser, you can stand a considerable distance from your work and throw a beam of light onto the area in order to draw attention to it. This is especially effective in a darker environment, as the red colored lasers that are often used for that purpose are easy to see in the dark. There are also other colors of lasers, including green which offers contrast more effectively than the red laser. In some cases, animals are going to be a problem and you can use lasers in order to control that problem. I'm not talking about zapping the animal with a laser beam, I'm talking about the fact that a laser can frighten them and cause them to flee. This is especially the case with certain type of birds that you may need to control from a distance. With a handheld laser, you can throw the light into the flock of birds and cause them to fly away. This can have many different benefits, including keeping airport runways safe for air traffic. Of course, there are many other uses for lasers that should be considered in industry. For example, you can cut many different types of materials with lasers and not only are you doing so more accurately, you are going so cleanly. The type of laser that is used for that purpose is going to differ, depending upon the material that is being cut and the type of cut that is needed. Lasers can also be used to measure distances, both short and long. That is why they are able to effectively be used in the automotive industry for manufacturing parts and in the surveying industry for measuring long distances. Regardless of where you look, lasers are going to appear and you would be surprised with how often you use an item that was manufactured with the use of lasers. Today lasers are used all over the world in almost every industry. One area in particular is Germany. Here the terms for laser are Laserdioden and Lasergeraet
