What do you mean by surrogacy? Surrogacy is basically a method undertaken by married couple when the woman gets pregnant. Here the mother could be either the genetic mother of the baby where the sperms are put inside her ovary or she can be the gestational carrier where the embryo is placed in the womb of the woman. Such types of women are called surrogates. These kinds of cases happen when the original woman’s womb cannot bear the embryo or has some complications in getting pregnant. The surrogate woman undergoes everything which a pregnant woman undergoes as she becomes the ultimate bearer of child for the respective couple. Surrogacy in India today has become quite common though earlier there were no surrogate mother today we can find money. In early times when a woman could not conceive the husband was forced to marry the second time so that he gets an heir for his family. But, today the thinking has changed and we see surrogacy has gained good popularity. Surrogacy in India is legal as it is not in other countries. It is carried forward with the help of a recognized agency. Surrogacy in India has been made legal since the year 2002 moreover after the order of Supreme Court it was stated that surrogacy can be taken forward under the assisted reproductive technology. There are certain rules which are laid out like single parents who have child through surrogate mothers; the surrogate does not have any right over that child. Thus we can see that the surrogacy sector in India is estimated 449 dollar industry because of which many people from outside India come to India to undertake this process. In surrogacy the egg donors donate their egg which is then transmitted to the embryo of the woman. Woman who become surrogate mothers are generally unmarried and as a source of income they become ready to play the role of surrogate mothers. Couples who want to have children from surrogate mothers must have good knowledge about egg donation process. This process is carried out by a woman who is healthy enough to get pregnant but due to age barriers her eggs become weak. Thus, in such cases eggs are donated by a woman but then the woman who gets eggs through donation must have a healthy uterus without any complications because then only the process of pregnancy would be smooth sailing for her. Egg donors donate eggs to those people who have premature ovarian failure and other genetic problems. Thus those people who wish to conceive have two good options i.e. surrogacy and egg donation. Hence as we see surrogacy in India is legal under the rent a womb law which has shown a good improvement to curb injustice and promote fair practice of law in the country. Surrogacy ever since its legalization has done only good deeds to the society and its people and have not caused any harm. So do not hesitate if you want to get surrogacy done as its socially acceptable in the society.
